Time Running Out?
Wolves entertain low riding Scunthorpe at Molineux this evening, in a now familiar end of season must win match up.
How many times have we been here before? Far too many.
Mick McCarthy has no illusions regarding the task ahead of his men.
'It is a game that everyone will expect us to win, except Scunthorpe of course, because they will come here and be resolute and determined,'
'It might be one of those scrappy, horrible games. All that matters is that we get a win.' he told the clubs' official site.
The carefree atmosphere that enveloped the club last year, has been replaced by the usual end of season simmering pressure that has seen everyone, with perhaps the exception of the sidelined Michael Kightly held accountable for what is seen as a so far under achieving season.
Yet with two games in hand, Wolves are still only 4 points off a play off slot.
But with margins for error getting finer, failure to secure all three points off bottom but one Scunthorpe United will reignite calls for a sacrificial head, most likely Mick McCarthy's.
A win should see Wolves springboard to eighth, breathing down the necks of Palace and Plymouth in 7th and 6th place respectively.
With ten teams still vying for the four play off places, Wolves cannot afford any kind of slip ups tonight if they want to stake a claim to a place in the end of season shake up.
