Having a Lafferty

There are suggestions in todays tabloids that Mick McCarthy has tabled a £4 million bid for Burnley's Kyle Lafferty.

That's Kyle '13 goals in 65 full appearances and 35 as sub' Lafferty.

The clue is in the surname.

Ys, he's still young. Yes, hes scored at International level, but does that really justify splashing out £4 million on him?

Thats 80% of a Jo Lescott. 125% of a Kenny Miller. Three and a half Freddy Eastwoods. Three and a half SEB's for that matter.

Highly rated or not, I cant help feeling that we could get a lot more for our money, like a player with a track record of scoring for a start.

If this one goes through I may join the dark side and start ranting about McCarthy madness.

Four million quid? I'm going for a lie down.

£2.25 million plus Elliott according to Express&Star. Dont underestimate Lafferty and try & remember last season he played most of the games out of position on the wing and not his preferred central striker role.

Hi Phil. 2.25 m does sound a little more pallatable. still rates Elliot at 1.75m though. He's got talent, I'm just not sure its $4m worth of talent. Yet.

Do you think you can fend off Rangers & Celtic though? Clarets fans seem to be split on whether they want Laffs to stay or whether to cash in now. I would prefer a player cash deal if he did go

Championship dogfight or European glory. tough call. Presumably the same one Derek Riordan and Chris Boyd had to make, ultimately ending up getting splinters in their arse on the bench. And unless we are going to play an expansive 4-3-3 with Keogh right, Lafferty left and SEB in the middle, he aint gonna be first pick at our place either
