'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Reserve

Wolves have once again chosen to withdraw from the Pontins League for reserve teams, as they did in Mick McCarthy's first season.

Speaking to the official site McCarthy said

'As we will have at least 13 midweek fixtures throughout next season, we can pick and choose when to play reserve friendlies rather than being committed to fulfilling reserve League fixtures.

'The system seemed to work well the season before last so we decided to go back to it. And it also gives us more chance of getting our young professionals out on loan to gain experience.'

The decision is echoed by Birmingham City, Derby, Coventry and Leicester all choosing to opt for a less regimented structure of matches to compliment the League fixture.

A lot of clubs are pulling clubs form reserve Leagues and just choosing to have behind closed door friendlies.
