Local lad signs on

Wolves have completed the signing of Wolverhampton born defender Richard Stearman from Leicester City on a four year deal for an undisclosed sum.

The Foxes 2004 Young Player of The Year is comfortable at right back, and more importantly centre back and has represented England at U17, U18, U19 and U21 level.

He made 130 apearances for The Foxes, scoring 11 times, making his debut in October 2004, quickly attracting admirers.

In 2006 Sunderland made an unsuccessful bid for his services, but following Leicesters relegation to League One, The Foxes have finally been forced to part with one of their jewels in the crown.

Leicester Charman Milan Mandric said

'Richard has been a loyal servant to Leicester City for over 10 years and we wish him well.

'If we had stayed up, I think we could have agreed a new contract with the player, but unfortunately this was not to be.'

Welcome to the pack Richard.

Leicester had a good defence last season, so they are a treasure chest for championship clubs in search of a bit of defensive talent. We signed McAuley - and I can't wait to see him playing in an Ipswich Shirt. This must be great for all you Wolves fans to see this player in a Wolves shirt.
