Izzy Too Late for Wolves ?
England U21 striker Izale McLeod has stated his desire to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Mcleod was a Glenn Hoddle target during last years pre-season tranfer window, but was effectively priced out of the market by his club MK Dons, who slapped a milion pound price tag on the player Derby County deemed not good enough for Pride Park.
At the time, McLeod's agent was also very keen to point out that his charge did not want a move to Wolverhampton, and that his heart belonged to MK Dons.
Glenn Hoddle shifted his transer attention, and Mcleod stayed at MK Dons, where he'd always wanted to be.
But now it seems times have changed. Faced with an exit from the football league, Izale now sees Wolves as his destination of choice, and doesn't care who knows it.
'It's flattering for a big club like Wolves to show an interest in me, but it didn't happen. If something happens in the summer, I'll be delighted.' he has said.
What a pity he didn't say that when Wolves money was on the table, and his club were holding Jez Moxey to ransom.
If Glenn Hoddle chooses to pursue this player once again, MK Dons position must now be severely weakened. A want away striker is a different proposition to a tightly held prized posession.
And after last summer's attempts at highway robbery, they may find their previous actions come back to haunt them, and their bumper transfer pay day has long disapeared.
