Craddock crocked

Today Mick McCarthy received the news he had been dreading.

His captain has been sidelined for up to 3 months with a broken foot.

His fears were turned into reality when x-rays revealed Jody Craddock has broken a metatarsal bone in his foot, requiring surgical pinning.

"It`s a huge blow to lose Jody, because he`s one of our more experienced players. He`s someone who has always played well for me and is a good competitor.

"It`s a blow for all of us, but especially for him because it`s so difficult for him to accept.' he told the oficial site.

McCarthy has now little or no choice but to delve into the transfer market, either for a permanent signing or a loan deal to ensure he retains the experience Jody provided at the heart of defence.

A fresh bid for Christophe Berra is one option, but Hearts will insist on a fee Jez Moxey has so far been reluctant to pay, and with Wolves need now increasing, they are highly unlikely to budge a penny.

Bobo Balde's wage demands must surely rule him out, unless a deal can be brokered, with Celtic covering part of his pay packet.

With 5 days to go until Wolves next match away at Ipswich, boh manager and CEO will have to move fast if they are to build on their successes so far.

Or they could always put their trust in Neill Collins?
