George in for long rest

George Elokobi looks set to miss out on the majority of this season's action.

Tests have revealed that George has damaged all of his cruciate ligaments, with manager Mick McCarthy confessing his absence will be months, rather than weeks.

Damaging one cruciate can be bad enough, but when it's multiples, there are further complications as McCarthy explained this week.

'It might be that they have to repair the medial and lateral ligaments at first and then the anterior afterwards but that's just talking in layman's terms.' he said.

McCarthy has got options at left back, but few would have picked Stephen Ward as one of them, as McCarthy did today.

Wether any of them can fill George's not unsubstantial boots remains to be seen.
