'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wolves swoop for Exeter left back

Mick McCarthy has once again beaten his rivals to the drop, signing exciting Exeter City left back Jason Friend in the closing hours of the transfer window.

he official Exeter City site confirms

'Exeter City Football Club have accepted a bid for highly-rated left-back George Friend. George has now travelled to the Midlands and will need to agree personal terms with Mick McCarthy and undergo a medical.'

The much admired 21 year old comes heaped with plaudits from the Exeter fans, sad to see him leave, but pragmatically facing up to the fact a move up a level has been on the cards for some time.

Exeter's youngest ever captain, George can play left back, centre back, and in midfield and could well be one of Wolves stars of the future.

Welcome to the pack George

Lots of clubs were after a Friend, but big Mick has beaten them to the punch. I thought he was a decent player, remains to be seen whether he can cut it a higher level
