Who dares wins

Who dares wins

Supersub Sam Vokes won all the weekend headlines, and rightly so, following his brace that kept Wolves flying high at the top of the Coca-Cola Championship.

No doubt his manager would agree.

But part of the credit for young Vokes leading role in The Valley victory must also go to the August Manager Of The Month, Mick McCarthy.

Having just watched your side get on level terms, away from home, many managers may have settled for a valuable point, but not McCarthy.

Instead of shoring things up, as he could have been forgiven for doing, he went on the attack, withdrawing Matt Jarvis to make way for the welsh youngster, and boy did it pay dividends.

Mick McCarthy's admirers are thick on the ground at the moment. Which will probably make him smile, knowing well the fickle nature of football.

But while it lasts, we should all, including Mick McCarthy make the most of it.

Top of the league.

No matter how many times you say it, it still feels good.
