'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Geoff Thomas - Legend

Geoff Thomas raised over £170,000 for leukemia charities last year, completing the entire 2,200 mile route of the Tour de France.

“I have played for England alongside the likes of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer but doing the Tour de France ranked above everything else I've done.' he said, announcing his latest challenge.

'I had been given three years to live so it also made me realise my good fortune to have received such fantastic treatment. That's why I've decided to now take on RAAM and to help others facing leukaemia.”

RAAM?

The Ride Across America. The toughest cycle race in the world. Fewer people have been into space than complete RAAM

Starting in San Diego, California, Thomas' four-man team will ride night and day through 14 US states, across deserts and mountains, to reach Atlantic City, New Jersey, 3,052 miles away on the east coast.

The team has less than 10 days to complete teh gruelling marathon, and Thomas himself will be competing whilst still recovering from debilitating chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation.

Seven times Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong paid special tribute to Geoff saying

“I have been told that I was Geoff's inspiration but he has inspired millions”.
