How now, blue Gow

Following widely noted reports, Wolves are now said to have tabled a bid for Rangers' Alan Gow.

Gow, who impressed manager Mick McCarthy during Wolves visit to Blackpool in December is seen as surpluss to requiremets at Ibrox following his succesful loan period to the Seasiders.

'We've had had one enquiry from Wolves for Alan Gow and negotiations are ongoing,' Rangers manager Walter Smith said last week.

A fee of around £200k is expected to be enough to satisy Rangers, which on his form against us looks a decent bargain.

But the news of Gow's possible pending arrival is tempered by the news Fat Phil has ruled out a loan extension for Michael Mancienne due to his own squad problems at centre back.

Wolves have numerous options at the heart of defence, but not many with the silky skills of Mancienne, probably not seen in Old Gold since the departure of a certain Mr Lescott.
