'If It's Football, It's Vital'

That's torn it

I'm sure that Wolves boss Mick McCarthy knew that following his 'bio-mechanical' comment at the end of the Alan Gow saga that he would eventually have to substantiate on that comment.

Which he has duly done.

For 'bio-mechanical' read 'tear of the hamstring', which is much easier to understand both in definition and reaon for sending the unfortunate Gow back to Ibrox.

Whether Gow will return south of the border on loan for any other club is now the point in question.

McCarthy gives the impression that after possibly an op, and a three month break, Gow could well return to finalise the deal and end a two year chase for the talented Scot by the straight talking Yorkshireman.

But other reports suggest Gow may be happy to play on 'through the pain barrier' in a bid to end his Rangers nightmare, with Leeds and Blackpool being mooted suitors.

If, as we are led to believe, the tear does indeed need any kind of corrective therapy, on a surgeons table or otherwise, involvement in a promotion push would not be most peoples choice of elective treatment with the associated risk of further damage surely ranking quite highly.

Having already turned down the Seasiders in favour of a Wolves offer it will be ineresting to see whether Gow is prepared to risk any summer deal by finishing this season wearing studded boots, or leaves his toes in a more comfortable form of footwear for the coming weeks.

And if any of that effects any signings Wolves may make in the current transfer window.
