Load of Mattocks?

Wolverhampton Wanderers arethe latest club said to be chasing Leicester City left back Joe Mattock.

So that would be Wolves who already have Dan Jones, Big George Elokobi, not quite so big George Friend, Stephen Ward and Matt Hill as cover in that position.

Five of them.

True, Dan Jones is seen as more of a winger, and may well move this summer unless he can secure regular first team football, and Big George is injured, but do we really need anymore left backs ?

Espescially £1.5 million left backs? It would be nice to sweep up the up anycoming stars in the hope they'll turn into world beaters, but in areas where they're needed.

Like he wings and the middle of the park.

On the face of it, you have to think this is pure mischief making.

AS one of the few solvent clubs in any division, we're bound to get linked with a lot of deals, but the ones that go through rarely make headlines until fees have been agreed and terms are being discussed, so we think this one may well be a load of old Mattocks

The quieter we are on the transfer market, the more rumours will surface. Mattock is a TOP youngster who will likely be snapped up by someone soon. Should this be Wolves? Well I wouldn't mind him (he also ticks all of MM's boxes) but only if we start to clear out some of the others we have in line for that position. Hill seems to be second choice for LB at the moment but I believe Mattock is a better player NOW than Hill and should continue to improve. Personally, unless we get rid of a few players, I would rather see a quality winger and a solid midfielder join us. I worry how we would cope without Henry doing the donkey work in midfield. He may not be glamorous, he may not be creative, but he IS a hard worker and reasonably solid tackler. Can you think of anyone else among our midfield candidates who could fill his role? That's one reason why I think O'Toole would have been a good buy for us: a solid tackler who can also knock a few in.

We need a quality replacement for the departed Mancinne and we need him before the transfer window closes.
