Under the influence

Under the influence

The swift and final exit of Wanderers star in the making Mark Davies has still got many fans scratching their heads wondering exactly what has gone on that isn't in the public domain.

Although sentimental loyalty is rare in football, players signed to the club they support, that has stuck by them through difficult times and have been offered new terms aren't usually candidates to jump ship the first chance they get.

Agent's however, have been known to guide their client's in a certain direction once a fat commission cheque looms large on the horizon.

As have previous mentor's, eager to put a reassuring arm around their former charge's shoulder, perhaps eager to remind a young lad of the intense scrutiny and backlash they once felt when their personal life became the subject of rumour and insinuation and how it could all be oh so different, particularly when they are an incumbant at a proposed new employer.

We're sure that none of the above took place in the days leading up to Mark's swift exit from the club he's been associated with for over a decade, that has, so it publicly insists, done everything it can to keep him at Molineux for the foreseeable future.

But we can't help but feel there is something more going on other than the offer of a 54 month contract with a team two points outside the Premierhip relegation zone.
