Hoddle : Not Over Yet

Wolves 8 match unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt against fourth from bottom Sheffield Wednesday today as they crashed to a 3-1 home defeat.

But manager Glenn Hoddle thinks his side created enough chances to take something from the game, with only a sparkling performance from Wednesday 'keeper Scott Carson denying them victory.

'We worked their keeper hard enough to have won the game - but credit to Sheffield they played well for a team that's fourth from bottom. Their keeper put in a Man of the Match performance.' he told the clubs official site.

Wolves have rarely been accused of defensive laxity this season, but this was one match where the men at the back let the team down.

Mistakes by Gabor Gyepes and Jo Lescott lead to all three Sheffield goals, and to an anxious Glenn Hoddle, that's imply not good enough.

'Rarely do we give away goals like that - if you can't defend those you don't deserve to win.' he said

With Preston drawing, and Cardiff losing, the impact of Wolves loss has been cushioned. But it's another golden chance not taken that was the last thing on Hoddle's mind.

'We haven't blown it but had we won we would have put ourselves in a strong position given the other results today.'

Wanderers chance of making the play offs might not have been completely shattered today, but they certainly shed a few pounds as their opportunities to make points up on Preston pass them by.

Another similar result next Saturday could end this current season and open an inquest that will continue for quite some time.
