Hoddle : Ref Forced Changes

Glenn Hoddle has explained why he made what were 2 crucial changes against Sheffield Wednesday.

Fear the referee would reduce his side to ten men.

Darren Drysdale had yet another shocking afternoon making many contentious decisions. More that were just outright wrong.

And it was that fact that led him to withdraw Kenny Miller and Rob Edwards at half time after both being booked.

'I had to bring Rob off - same with Kenny. I wanted to keep Kenny on. But we had to finish the game with 11 on the pitch - and one decision, which the referee might have got wrong, could have had them sent off. It was a difficult call, but I had to do it.' said Hoddle

The Wolves manager and his players have been left to come to terms with a result that has shocked them, as much as their fans'

'We've just spent half-an-hour in the dressing room talking about it, because I didn't see this coming. We've got to start getting maximum points at home.' he said, clearly still searching for an answer to what had just been witnessed.

But he was also at pains to point out that on another day, Wolves could quite easily have run out comfortable winners.

But for one man. Scott Carson

'To be fair to Sheffield Wednesday, they played well. But Stefan hasn't had save to make, apart from the three goals.'

"The saves at the other end suggest we were close to scoring five goals. Their goalkeeper was the man of the match.'
