Gabor Fears The Worst

Glenn Hoddle was dealt a heavy blow ay the end of Saturdays 3-1- defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, when Hungarian Interntional Gabor Gyepes collapsed following Wedenedays third goal.

Initially he looked to have merely slipped in the build up to the goal, but it immediately became obvious that serious damage had been done as the popular centreback writhed in agony clutching his knee.

Shortly after the final whistle he was rushed to hospital to be given the bad news.

'At the end of the game, my left knee got injured in a tackle,' Gabor said

'I had an x-ray and I do not know for sure but it may be ligament damage.

'I will undergo an MRI scan on Monday and then I will know whether or not I will have to have surgery.'

With Jody Craddock still on the road the recovery, Hoddle will be hoping that Gabor will not require surgery, although even minor damage will probably sideline him for the rest of this campaign.

"The first signs are that it is looking like a cruciate ligament injury but he has gone off for a scan this afternoon and that will obviously confirm what exactly is wrong," said Wolves assistant manager Stuart Gray.

"The boy was obviously in a lot of pain and it was a hugely disappointing for both him and the club, particularly after Saturday's result.

"It will certainly mean that he's out for the remainder of the season, and beyond, depending on what the scans say.

"You never know with these things and we have got our fingers crossed that there may be some good news from the scan, but we won't know anything for definite until we receive the results."
