Hoddle : Down To The Wire

Wolves Boss Glenn Hoddle will be joining all fans in keeping both eyes firmly fixed on the result at Deepdale tonight.

A win for Preston would take them 5 points clear of Wolves with 6 games to go.

But even if that happens, Hoddle won't give up hope of overtaking North End. And even Crystal Palace.

Speaking to Wolves Woeld he said :

'Tonight is their game in hand on us and we'll have to wait and see if they get the three points. But whatever happens, there's still a play-off place to chase.

'Even Crystal Palace lost at the weekend so there's everything to play for.

'I've always thought that sixth spot would go down to the wire and it looks like ourselves, Preston and Cardiff are fighting for it. And possibly we could catch Crystal Palace because they might hit a patch of bad form.

Preston go into tonights match looking for their econd win in eight games, while Crewe go in on the back of a 4-1 demolition of Coventry, making the outcome far less predictable than was thought a few weeks ago. Something Hoddle is well aware of.

'It doesn't matter where teams are in the league, Preston won't find Crewe an easy game.' he said.

'They've got the advantage of the game this evening and they're in the driving seat. But they're not home and dry by any means, so we have got to keep pressing.'

Crewe's fanbase will be swollen by several thousand Black Country voices tonight, all urging them on to steal all three points.

Should they do so, Dario Gradi may find himself recieving a Congratulations Card, postmarked from a small place near Reading.
