Hungarian International Gabor Gyepes will see a specialist on Monday for the second time after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage against Sheffield Wednesday.
It has also been confirmed that he will definitely require surgery.
Talking to the club's official site Glenn Hoddle confirmed fans worst fears.
'We do now know that Gabor definitely needs an operation,'
'I imagine it will probably go ahead next week some time, but that is for the specialist to decide.
'It's not good news for the lad at all, but we can't really say how long he'll be out for until after the surgeon has seen exactly what has been done.'
Gabor has adapted well to the English game since his arrival, and the injury couldnt have come at a worst time for Wolves.
With Jody Craddock fit, but short of match fitness, and Jackie Mac only having played 150 minutes in 6 months the defensive unit is now down to its bare bones.
Under the circumstancess Gabor could be forgiven for focussing on his own problems rather than the teams, but as Glenn Hoddle went on to reveal, that couldn't be further from the truth.
'It's a crushing blow for the lad. He's had a good first season in English football, although it wasn't his best game on Saturday and he was the first one to admit it.
'I spoke to him on Saturday night and the first thing he did was apologise for the mistakes he made in the game.
'But he is a very good player and is a smashing lad. The team has taken to him really well and it's a blow for everyone that he's suffered this injury.'
Vital Wolves wishes Gabor all the best in his recovery.
