'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Postma : Pressure Not A Factor

'It was a very disappointing day,'

Stefan Postma was one of very few Wolves players to come out of Saturdays debacle with any credit.

But for his goalmouth efforts, and teh ineptitude of Plymouths strike force the 2-0 scoreline could have easily turned out to be a massacre.

Speaking to The Birmingham Post Stefan gave his verdict on the teams performance.

'We knew what kind of game it was going to be, that they were going to lash the ball forward and battle for it but we didn't deal with it and two set-pieces cost us.

'We never got going or got into the game and it never looked like we were going to score - it was a very poor performance. No-one ever wants to go out and put on a performance like that and we came here with the clear aim of winning the game.

'That's the disappointing part because with the situation we knew what we had to do and we ended up with back-to-back defeats for the first time since I came into the team.'

Wolves went into the match knowing that 3 points would be essential in keeping their play off hopes alive, something that made their abject failure to threaten The Pilgrims all the more hard to swallow

But while there is still a chance, there is still hope, and a chance for the players to salvage a little elf respect from a more than diapointing season, as Stefan went on to explain.

'It's still possible but the chances look very, very slim.

'We knew we had to win four of the last six and maybe not lose the other two so this result makes things very difficult.

'We can't look at anybody else now, we just have to look at ourselves because what we have left is purely hope.

'At the very least we need to earn ourselves a bit of pride back because we let ourselves down on Saturday and against Sheffield Wednesday as well.'

Many fans believe the team choked. Buckling under the weight of their supporters expectations. But according to Stefan, that's not an excuse he is prepared to entertain. Even if his confidence in gaining promotion has now dulled in the aftermath of the weekends result.

'I don't think anyone has been affected by any pressure - speaking for myself it doesn't affect me other than making me more determined to get where we want to go. I've never before even had the thought that we weren't going to make it but now I'm standing here with big doubts that we are.'

Doubts that now hang over the whole of Wolverhampton.

Although they deny it, I think it did get to them a little.

something happened for so many players to perform so badly

The players can never get up for games against these smaller teams when infact sometimes they are the most important.
