DUBLIN born Stephen Ward was like many of us supporters on Wednesday, picking out the fixtures that we have been dreaming of since the end of last season.

Ward who put in some great performances as a make shift left back last season, is unlikely to be up against Cristiano Ronaldo with the Portuguese whiner, sorry winger moving to Real Madrid. But he was still excited about taking on the Premier League Champions.

'I was a Manchester United fan as a boy so that was the first fixture I looked for.' He told the official site

'The second one was Liverpool because a lot of my family are Liverpool fans so it's interesting to be playing them on Boxing Day - I think I'll be getting quite a few requests for tickets for that one!

'As a footballer it's just great to be playing these games and it shows what a long way we've come.

Vital Wolves Comment: It is refreshing to see the genuine excitement about being back in the top flight, but we know that when those match days come round, we need to be looking to pick up points rather than autographs.
