Vital Wolves: McCarthy eyes Sunderland man

WOLVES boss Mick McCarthy has been alerted to the availability of Sunderland skipper Dean Whitehead - Daily Star

SUNDERLAND man Dean Whitehead could be a target for Wolves according to the highly reliable source, the Daily Star.

The 27-year-old midfielder is looking for a move after 5 years at the club as he fears getting stale (and probably a nice hefty sign on fee that a transfer brings).

McCarthy would have to put in a bid of around £3 million to tempt new manager Steve Bruce into selling.

Vital Wolves Comment: Experience, good work ethic, a captains head and yet I still don't feel too convinced.

A reliable player, who will do all the non fancy stuff without getting noticed. He's probably ideal but fails to grab the imagination.

Not sure that he ever really cut it in the Prem. Always gives 100% though...
