Wolves: Happy not to start with Man Utd!

Jones is happy his side have not been given any opening-day headaches like fellow promotion side Birmingham City who will start their campaign against Manchester United - Birmingham Post

WOLVES midfielder Dave Jones is pleased with the sides first game back in the Premier League and is relieved as we all are, that we have avoided the so called big four for the first couple of months.

That cannot be said for Birmingham, who face Manchester United at Old Trafford on the first day of season.

Our more favourable start, may work out nicely as it gives us a chance to pick up points early and settle back into life in the Premier League.

"Every game will be tough and there are no easy games but I think we`ve been handed a good start. West Ham won`t be easy because their manager has got them playing really good football but at least we are playing in front of our own fans. Overall I do think there`s points there for us early doors.' Jones told the Birmingham Post.

Predictably the newly promoted sides are favourites again to go down. Most of the bookies give us the best chance to stay up, with some favouring Hull City for the drop.

Jones thinks the battle is wide open and wouldn't bet against another big side like Newcastle to fall through the trap door.

"Outside the top six or eight teams you don`t know who is going to finish where because it`s normally so tight. Judging by what happened last season, anyone can be down because no one expected Newcastle to be down there but they got relegated."

Vital Wolves Comment: It's only June and I can't wait for the new season to get going, we need a few more signings to take advantage of the fixture list, but early points do look up for grabs.
