Having missed out on the 2-1 win over Finland and the 2-0 win over Spain and with England already through to the Semi Finals, manager Stuart Pearce made 11 changes for the game against Germany, which meant Richard Stearman found himself in the starting line-up.

It wasn't the best of starts for Pearce's young lions though as Castro put the Germans into the lead after just 4 minutes.

Jack Rodwell, got England back on terms in the 29th minute following a corner.

With 12 minutes remaining Stearman had a cracking chance to put England into the lead with a volley at the far post, but he was unable to break the deadlock and the game ended 1-1.

England Squad from FA.com:

22 Scott Loach, 3 Andrew Taylor, 5 Richard Stearman, 16 James Tomkins, 18 Michael Mancienne, 15 Jack Rodwell, 8 Craig Gardner, 11 Adam Johnson, 20 Andrew Driver, 23 Danny Rose, 21 Fraizer Campbell

Substitutes

1 Joe Hart, 13 Joe Lewis, 2 Martin Cranie, 9 Gabriel Agbonlahor, 14 Theo Walcott, 6 Nedum Onuoha, 17 Micah Richards, 19 Kieran Gibbs, 4 Lee Cattermole, 10 Mark Noble, 12 Fabrice Muamba
