Villa Cort In The Act

Carl Cort has emerged as a surprise Summer target for Aston Villa mnager David O'Leary.

When the former Irish international turned up for a recent Wolves match it was assumed that his interest must be in their coveted young centre back Jo Lescott.

But it transpires O'Leary could have been rather more forward thinking than he has been credited with, and was actually scouting centre forward Carl Cort.

'I want a powerful centre forward to play with Milan,' O'Leary said recently. 'I don't know what I've got to spend yet, but I want to cover all bases.'

ith Cort soon to be entering into the last year of his contract, Wolves may be tempted to sieze the opportunity to provide manager Glenn Hoddle with funds to raid the lower leagues which is now almost an inevetability .

Having failed to gain promotion, CEO Jez Moxey has already stated that a change in transfer policy must be adopted, and it is believed that a massive cull of the senior professionals will make way for the talented Wolves youhs coming through from the Wanderers Acadamy, and a new batch of lower leagues players, aiming to make a name for themsleves and hungry for success.

Will Carl be Cort in the Moxey Massacre?
