WOLVES look set to try and sign Aston Villa defender Zat Knight for a second time this summer according to the Mirror.

In June, the move was dismissed with media reports suggesting that Martin O'Neill would not be willing to weaken his side further following the departure of captain Gareth Barry and defender Martin Laursen.

But the Mirror believe that Villa are set to bring in new signings, which would push Knight down the pecking order.

Wolves will have to fight off Bolton for Knight's signature.

Vital Wolves Comment: Undecided to be fair. Premier League experience, will help bolster our defensive options. But he is not highly rated by many.

Vital Wolves: Friday June 19 2009

ASTON VILLA have told Wolves that they will not be selling any of their central defenders, following Martin Laursen`s retirement. According to the Daily Mail.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy contacted his Aston Villa counterpart Martin O`Neill directly according to the paper and the believed target was defender Zat Knight.

Knight moved to Aston Villa from Fulham 2 years ago in a £3.5 million deal. He has made around 40 league appearances for the club.

I am strating to get concerned with the number of centre-backs the club now has on our books especially if Mancienne comes to us on loan. If we are going for somebody like Zat Knight - we should have pushed the boat out further and landed Dunne from Man City.
