Vital Wolves: McCarthy looks to Argentina

WOLVES and Stoke are mulling over a move for giant Argentinian centre-back Norberto Paparatto - Sunday Mercury

ARGENTINE 25-year-old centre-back Norberto Paparatto is 6ft 3in and plays for Club Atlético Tigre in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Atlético Tigre are currently 13th in Primera División Argentina ahead of sides such as Boca Juniors and Newell's Old Boys (their season runs from February till July).

In 2007 Paparatto helped Tigre finished second in the Torneo Apertura which is a 20 team, 19 game opening league tournament.

His agent has reportedly been in contact with both ourselves and Stoke, offering the player for what is seemed a cheap price at £2.5million.

Vital Wolves Comment: Not being an expert on Argentine football, we couldn't possibly comment on whether £2.5million is a good price or not.

But what is clear, from all the recent reports, is that Mick McCarthy is definitely looking at signing more defensive options.

With Balde already in Australia and various other reports linking us with defenders. We are almost certain to be signing at least one.

What do you think? Should McCarthy be focussing on signing another defender, or should he be looking at strengthening the midfield or attack?
