Wolves, Spurs, Wigan, Burnley & Pompey Battle

Wolves CEO Jez Moxey has said that James McCarthy has gone away to consider the possibility of joining the club after talks - official site

WOLVES have a battle on our hands if we are to win James McCarthy's signature.

While Celtic have withdrawn their interest, Burnley and Portsmouth continue to monitor developments.

Wolves and Wigan have both agreed terms with Hamilton Academical, but Spurs have made a late move to hijack the deal according to the Daily Mail.

Despite Spurs late move, Wolves are the favourites to sign the 18-year-old according to reports and that would seem to be backed up by Wolves CEO Jez Moxey claiming the player has gone away to consider his options after meeting manager Mick McCarthy. 'We've agreed a fee for James with Hamilton Academical,' said Jez to the official site.

'James came down with his family and had a look around Compton and Molineux and met Mick upon his return.

'He has now gone away to consider his options and we await any further developments.'

Vital Wolves Comment: A few twists yet to come in this one. At first he looked like he was as good as ours. Then Sky Sports News reported he was off to Wigan, while reports now suggest that Tottenham could steal him from under our noses.

I don't think there is much fight in the battle from Pompey at the moment, so I think the other three of you can fight it out.. We'd be lucky to buy a burger let alone a player the way our takeover is dragging out !

if he still isn't signed by anyone when our takover (finaly) goes through, then maybe, we will re-enter the race. Right now though, we won't be spending money on anyone.

I think you could probably rule Spurs out of it as well. Harry admitted last night that we weren't in for McCarthy. Could be a smokescreen though, you never knowwith 'Arry.

Knowing jamies dad, i would expect to see him sign for spurs then...
