Wolves chase former Liverpool defender

STEVE FINNAN is being chased by Sunderland, Stoke and Wolves - The Sun

33-year-old former Liverpool full back Steve Finnan could be set to leave Spain and return to the Premier League according to the tabloid newspaper The Sun.

Finnan has been playing for Espanyol since 2008 but has made limited appearances due to injury.

'We are negotiating to cancel his contract.' Espanyol sporting director Ramon Planas told The Sun.

'Hopefully we can reach an agreement which works for everybody.'

With Finnan set to be a free agent, that will interest ourselves according to The Sun and McCarthy could then be set to make a move to bring the former Liverpool man back to the Premier League.

Vital Wolves Comment: Defensive experience is vital for this season and although it would obviously be a short term move, I think it could be a good one.

Again - It depends upon wages etc and if he is a competent centre half (As cover). I rate him but I'd prefer Super Kevin Foley to be a certain starter!!
