Vital Wolves: Que Zubar?

Football, it is said, is a universal language but try telling that to Ronald Zubar.

The predominantly French speaking signing is struggling to understand his new team mates, Mick McCarthy admitted yesterday. Language problems, coupled with a shortage of match fitness, have hindered Zubar`s progress into the first team.

Zubar undoubtedly has talent and potential to make it in the Premiership but this is a problematic predicament and it is to Wolves determent.

This leaves Craddock, Stearman and Berra battling over the two centre-back positions for Saturday`s opener against West Ham. Whilst Zubar and Craddock have Champions League and Premiership experience respectively, Berra and Stearman are untested at the highest level.

With a squad full of Englishmen, Scotsmen, Irishmen and Welshmen, all with strong regional accents, it is maybe no wonder that the Frenchmen has not understood his team mates with perfect clarity.

A crash course in English football terminology will be a minimum requirement for Zubar in the next few weeks. Whatever course Wolves decide to take they will have to act quickly because otherwise the language barrier may become an obstruction to Wolves retaining Premiership status.

It could be easier to give the squad a crash course in French. Its an easier language to learn than English. Zubar will pick up the language eventually. I find this a strange situation...Chelsea must be a nightmare with at least 6 languages on the pitch at any one time. ;-)
