'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Capello & Terry Back The Bid

England manager Fabio Capello along with England defender John Terry have joined the 'back the bid' campaign for England to host the 2018 World Cup.

John Terry:

'England would be a tremendous home for the World Cup if we had the opportunity to stage the tournament in 2018.

I`ve seen the amazing passion for football in this country, from England fans following the national team around the world, to supporters packing grounds all over the country and roaring their teams on.

From my younger days I also know what the game means to kids who play on parks and fields up and down the country.

Football has an impact on everyone and I think a World Cup in England would be a fantastic experience for fans and players from all over the globe.

The passion in this country is one of our greatest assets and I`ve no doubt that people will show how much they want a World Cup in this country by backing the bid at www.england2018bid.com and getting their friends and family to do the same. Support from fans could really make the difference and help us win the bid so I hope they join me in registering their support.'

Fabio Capello:

'I`ve been made to feel incredibly welcome in this country from the moment I took the job and I think if the World Cup was in England in 2018 fans and players from all over the World would find the same thing.

Wherever you go people want to talk about football and you see it being played everywhere. I`ve experienced football in many countries as a player and a manager and feel the passion of the fans in this country is tremendous.

I also believe that football can be a real force for good things and have been impressed by the excellent work that The FA International Development programme has done in African countries such as Lesotho. There is a strong commitment here to use football in a positive way and I feel a World Cup in England could have a great impact on the entire football world. I`m sure our great fans will offer us support by registering at www.england2018bid.com .'

I think its high time that the Country that brought football to the rest of the world had the honour of hosting it again. In fact its long overdue.
