Vital Wolves: Attention shifts to Swindon

Wolves face Swindon on tomorrow night in the second round of the Carling Cup.

McCarthy is expected to make several changes to the side, with Sam Vokes set for a first start of the season.

"It`s a big night for Swindon- now we`re in the Premier League, we`re something of a scalp," Vokes told the Sunday Mercury.

The League One side might have had an indifferent start to the season, but form is irrelevant in a Cup and Vokes is understandably wanting to avoid an upset: "Giantkilling is what it`s all about in the cup and they`ll be wanting to cause an upset. We just have to go out there and try to get the job done so we can get into the hat for the next round."

Vokes is hoping to get a chance against Swindon and to do enough to impress and earn a start in the Premier League against Hull: "I`ve enjoyed coming off the bench for the first couple of games to get my first Premier League experience and we got a great result at Wigan the other night. If I do get the nod, it will be another chance to try and impress and get in the gaffer`s thoughts for the game with Hull on Saturday."

Vital Wolves Comment: Cup runs can be a welcome distraction from the League and so it would be nice to get past Swindon and see how far we can go.

Also fingers crossed that Vokes can impress as it is time for him to step up a gear.
