Harper switch from Reading to Wolves still on?

28-year-old Reading midfielder James Harper could still join Wolves before the transfer window slams shut.

A fee of around £1.8million was reportedly agreed between the two clubs earlier this month.

Harper then came up to Molineux to have a look around and have a chat with Mick McCarthy. But returned to Reading without agreeing a deal.

It turns out that Harper was miffed with Mick telling him that he wasn't fit enough at the moment to perform in the Premier League: 'I respect his decision but I don't agree with it, I was just recovering from a groin injury and when Mick looked at the scans he told me I wouldn't be ready. I think he is wrong.' He told the Reading Chronicle.

Harper went on to add, that as McCarthy has continued to keep and eye on him that he wants to prove him wrong: 'Since then he has been to the Madejski Stadium to watch me play and I hope my performance demonstrated that I can do a job.'

'Don't get me wrong. I am not desperate to leave Reading, but they have now put on record that they are willing to let me go.'

Vital Wolves Comment: Harper has clearly had his head turned by us. I certainly wouldn't be impressed with Harper if I was a Reading fan. Doesn't exactly scream of loyalty.
