Sam Vokes's proposed season-long loan move to Derby County collapsed, just half an hour short of Tuesday`s transfer deadline window.
Vokes was set to replace Rob Hulse after his proposed move to Middlesbrough. However when that deal collapsed, it left Vokes high and dry.
"We had a telephone call at 4.30pm to say Hulse`s proposed move to Middlesbrough had fallen through and therefore they couldn`t guarantee Vokes would be playing,`` said Moxey to the Birmingham Mail.
"But with the time against us, and with Sam away on international duty, it all became impossible for us to do a deal.``
The 19-year-old will now stay at Wolves, apparently not needed by Mick McCarthy who was happy for Vokes to leave for entire season following the signing of Stefan Maierhofer.
Hope however is not lost for Vokes has the loan transfer window does re-open next week and Jez added: "We agreed to take a breath and wait the seven days before seeing what to do with Sam.'
Vital Wolves Comment: It's a shame for Vokes, we at Vital Wolves thought that he could make an impact in the Premier League this season, but a loan move to gain experience will do him no harm.
