Have FIFA screwed us too?

FIFA have banned Chelsea from signing players until January 2011.

The reasons are well documented elsewhere, but in case you missed it, Chelsea signed a young French player from a French club two years ago. Said French club complained it wasn't fair and FIFA agreed and have now fined both Chelsea and the young French player, banned him for four months and blocked Chelsea signing anyone for the next two transfer windows.

Quite funny you may think for anyone other than Chelsea supporters? But this move could have a direct affect on Wolves.

The reason why? Michael Mancienne.

Michael Mancienne joined Wolves just before the season started on loan. Chelsea have an option to recall Mancienne back to Stamford Bridge, something they may now look to do if their defensive cover begins to look a a bit short.

That in turn will leave us, without Michael Mancienne and possibly desperate to find a replacement.

It is a possiblility, given that he is well thought of at Chelsea, but centreback is an area of our squad that we do have good cover. With Alex and Ivanovic challenging JT and Riccy, it would take a nasty bout of flu before he gets a look in just yet. Having said that, he is more than capable at right back and also came on to play defensive midfileder towards the back end of last season. I'm arguing against myself. Yeah, worry, it could happen. Hope I've helped?

Relax Wolf Man, your Chief Exec seems pretty confident that it won't affect the loan deal. And by the sound of things, you'll have him until at least Jan, which is when we could acitvate the call back clause if we did need him back. Which, as i mentioned above, would be unlikely.
