With the Premier League now under way, Vital Wolves will be bringing you a new feature we have entitled The Vital Wolves Mauling.

Basically it's 10 questions with an editor from the Vital website of our next opponents (clever huh?)

It is Mikey's turn from Vital Blackburn this week:



1. What do you make of Wolves, how do you think they have faired back in the Premier League?

I have never had any problems with Wolves at all, I normally take exception to teams at some point (See:Spurs, West Ham, Man United, Burnley of course) but Wolves to me seem like a decent, honest hard working team with a good spirit and attitude. As for how you have faired - I would say pretty fair so far. You're win at Wigan was as good as it was surprising and you have certainly made a better start than ourselves.

2. Which Wolves player would you like in your team?

One of your new lads - Kevin Doyle. I have always considered Kevin a top quality player who is good in the air and I remember him being great from his reading days. Rovers could use somebody like Kevin who applies himself well in the box and can score at a regular rate.



I also have a fondness for Andy keogh who seems to have good awareness about him and a knack for creativity.

3. Ultimately do you think Wolves will avoid the drop?



I think it will be close. There are at least 10 teams who could conceivably be in the mix (and I include ourselves in this) so it will be a case of how those 10 teams do in their matches against the other 9. If you were to put me on the spot I would say the teams to go down would be Burnley (of course), Hull and Portsmouth. Therefore I will say, yes you will survive, but it will be very, very close.

4. What are your thoughts on how your season has gone so far?



The easiest way to summarise would be to say we haven't got the rewards for our play. We were the better side against Man City (despite what the papers say), were dominant at Sunderland and shaded West Ham last weekend, so to have only one point to show for this is mighty disappointing. we have created plenty of chances but have failed to turn prizes into points. For this the strikers are mainly to blame but the team shares a responsibility to pitch in as well.



We are heading in the right direction and the players that were bought during the summer will get better and better as we go along but the shorthand answer to your initial question is... Could and should of been better.

5. What do you think will happen in your game against Wolves?



It is one of those games where anything could happen! I now that sounds a cliche and a bit of a cop out answer but it is the truth. It depends first and foremost which Rovers turns up. If is the one that plays hard football with a mean streak in defence that was unfortunate against Man City/Sunderland then I will say home win all the way but if it is the cautious, one dimensional Rovers that met West Ham last time out then Wolves can get something.

6. Where will your side be come the end of the season?



Probably in mid table obscurity, I cant see us stuck down at the bottom for long and I am pretty certain the trials and tribulations of last season can be avoided. If your asking me for a number I will say we will finish in 11th (conservative estimate as I have gone as high as 9th) but I think ultimately we will have too much power for some teams and we have learnt again under Big Sam the values of a tough defence - something we most certainly didnt have under the disaster that was Paul Ince.

7. Will you be happy with that?

Ultimately yes. It is easy enough for everyone to sit there and say 'ooh we should be pushing for Europe' but Rovers are a side that more than anything needs to be in this league. Financially it would be a nightmare if we went down but I cant see it happening this time out. We have the right manager, the right attitude and enough good players to keep us a float.



I might even be greedy and ask for a good cup run if things are going well by Christmas!

8. Who will win the Premier League?

This year it is wide open but I am going to say Chelsea. This transfer ban has made things interesting but I think they can freeze that whilst they appeal so I think they may be okay for January signings. Although to be fair it could be anyone of Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea but I am going to say Chelsea - even though just like the tussle at the bottom of the table, it will be a last day of the season thing.

9. Who will go down?



I am going to stick with my original choices from the previous question and say Burnley, Hull and Pompey. Although in hindsight I am going to go with the answer of as long as it IS Burnley and NOT Blackburn then I dont care!

10. Final thoughts?



Tough one to call. I think Rovers will pick up the three points in the end as we are at home but it should be a tough well fought game. Prediction wise I am going to go with a 3-1 Rovers win with Dunn, Samba and Kalinic scoring for the Rovers and Keogh for Wolves. Whatever happens though guys have a great season and enjoy the ride!
