Vital Wolves: Loan deals collapse

Sam Vokes's loan move has been put on hold while Darren Ward's deal has fallen through.

The pair were both set to leave Wolves on loan, however both seem to have hit the rocks today.

Vokes has been linked with Derby, Newcastle and Middlesbrough, initially on a season long loan move. Which has now turned into a 6 month or even 3 month deal, once it is given clearance by Mick McCarthy.

The reason for the delay is the fitness of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Chris Iwelumo while Kevin Doyle is still getting back to full fitness.

"There`s no one going out - we`ve got four strikers in Stefan Maierhofer, Sam Vokes, Andy Keogh and Kevin Doyle and until that changes, I won`t be looking to do anything." McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Stephen Ward on the other hand was set for a loan move to Millwall.

Seemingly forgotten by McCarthy for what seems like the best part of a year, McCarthy seemed to think it was a good idea, telling the Express & Star: "There`s always potential for Darren to leave because it`s been an on-going situation for a long time.

"I think he`d go back - it would suit him to go to London and play."

But the deal has failed to be completed, with differences between the clubs blamed by Millwall manager Kenny Jackett.

'There are differences between the clubs, There are a considerable amount of reasons it was not pulled off. We have made the inquiry and now we have to turn our attention elsewhere.' Jackett told the Southwark News.

'We are trying to get the right players in. I am waiting on a few phone calls, to see which ones might happen.'In these situations, a phone call or two can change things and make a player available and we have had plenty of 'maybes', but nothing that has crossed the line yet - though there are a couple of days before Saturday.'

Should let Vokes go ouy on loan....I am wondering is SEB's fitness more of an issue than we ahve been lead to believe??

I agree he should go out on loan and he obviously will - however if SEB is still not ready to play and there are still some doubts about Doyles fitness plus of course big Chris is still a long way off ready - then Mick has to hang on to Vokes for a little bit longer...
