Vital Wolves: McCarthy backs Chelsea

Mick McCarthy has backed Chelsea for their appeal against a transfer ban.

FIFA have banned Chelsea from signing any players until January 2011 due to transfer irregularities in 2007.

Wolves fans have taken an interest in the news due to Michael Mancienne's loan deal at Wolves from Chelsea, with some fearing the ban could force Chelsea to recall him back to Stamford Bridge.

But McCarthy believes that Chelsea could win their appeal, due to restriction of trade laws: "I`m sure Chelsea will be appealing against it and I have to say I don`t know you can ban a company from trading, although football has its own machinations," said the Wolves boss to the Express & Star.

"Can you tell ICI to stop buying or selling paint or tell Texaco to stop buying any oil or petrol for the next 18 months?"
