McCarthy targets Europa Cup

You would be forgiven for thinking Mick was targeting a win over Man Utd and winning the Carling Cup. But despite us still being one of the favourites for relegation with the bookies, Mick fancies our chances to push on in the Premier League and earn a spot in Europe!

Last week, we weren't satisfied with our start to the season. We wanted more points on the board and better performances.

Our points per game ratio was already being compared to what would have been required to be safe last year and even McCarthy, ahead of the game against Fulham admitted he wasn't satisfied.

Fast forward over the weekend and a win over Roy Hodgson's Fulham and McCarthy now tells the media? "Who says I`m going to be in a relegation battle?" explaining to The Times newspaper.

"Where are we in the league? Twelfth? Europa Cup, roll on. We`ve had a good, solid start now."

Europe next season would not do us any favours. If we stay up, consolidation is the key. Anywhere above 18th will do, preferably with a good point buffer so we don't all have heart attacks
