Pre Match Love in with United

Mick McCarthy and Sir Alex Ferguson have held a pre-match love in, before the game between Wolves and Manchester United tonight.

While Sir Alex Ferguson's press conferences recently have included a good slagging off of neighbours Manchester City, the Scot has taken a different line in the build up to our game.

'I've long had a soft spot for Wolves, maybe because when I was a starry-eyed youngster - yes really - I grew up with their famous team of the Fifties and Sixties, with players like Bill Slater, Ron Flowers and Peter Broadbent.' Sir Alex told Wolves Official Website.

He went on to add: 'More recently I used to be a regular visitor to Molineux because my son Darren played there for four years, and I would go down to watch him whenever I wasn't involved with Manchester United.

'So I got to know and like the club all over again.

But Sir Alex wasn't finished there, continuing to explain: 'It has something about it, and I always felt that if someone could really get hold of the place and give it a good shaking, they could be a top club again.'

Well how very nice of you Sir Alex, now if you could just cock up your tactics tonight and underestimate us by fielding a bunch of kids we'll kindly take our place in the next round.

Mick McCarthy was also more than happy to continue with the love fest, praising the signing of Michael Owen.

'I thought when Sir Alex took him he was a brilliant signing,' Mick told WOW.

'He didn't need his career resurrecting but for Manchester United to come in for him I'm sure gave him a massive boost and the goal he scored on Sunday was just a fabulous finish from a proper goalscorer.'
