Following what at best can only be described as a poor vein of form, Carl Cort’s prospects of joining Premiership side Aston Villa now look to be next to none.
Although with doubts still lingering over the strength of the striker's knee following remedial surgery last year, form alone may not the only factor coming into play.
The move would have been a first for O’Leary since taking over at Villa, having never raided the lower leagues for new talent in the last three years.
A predicted £1m return on the former Newcastle striker, approaching the final year of his contract could have proved usefull to Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle who will little money available in next seasons transfer budget.
Unless a sizeable offer is made for young defender Joleon Lescott that proves to be too tempting for the Wanderers board to turn down.
