Not the Best move for Wolves

Wolves will not be making a January swoop for Coventry striker Leon Best.

Best who has 4 caps for Ireland was linked with us a couple of days ago, but Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has moved to deny the links.

"There`s nothing in it - I`m happy to say there`s no truth in this.' Jez told the Express & Star.

He went on to add: "Mick has always thought of Leon Best as a good player but we have bought Stefan Maierhofer and we still have Chris Iwelumo to come back from injury, so we have two players covering the role that player can play.'

It had been thought that due to him only having 6 months remaining on his current deal that Coventry could be tempted to cash in on him: "Given the player`s contractual status, I would have thought he was more likely to allow his contract to run out and become a free agent."

Vital Wolves Comment: Not too fussed this one isn't true, in fact I`m actually quite relieved!

I like to see us scouting for young potential or talent that can automatically slot into our squad and I wasn't convinced that Best fell into either category.
