Vital Wolves: Defeat to Man Utd - The Verdict

Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy will come under fire once more following the match with Manchester United.

The result however was irrelevant following McCarthy's decision to make TEN changes from the side that had beaten Tottenham.

While recent heavy defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea may have been hard to take, at least we could take pride in the fact that we fielded our strongest side and even whilst being a tad naive, attempted to win the games with attack minded tactics.

That however was not the case with this game against Manchester United, with Marcus Hahnemann the only survivor from the win over Spurs.

Even George Friend who had been on loan with Scunthorpe up until Monday was named in the starting line-up!

In a bid to defend his actions McCarthy told the BBC: 'We could have got beaten whatever team I put out and I might have lost somebody with a hamstring or calf strain because they were all struggling after beating Spurs,'

Speaking about the supporters reaction to the teams selection he added: 'I can understand the supporters' reaction but at the end of the season I will be judged on whether Wolves have stayed in the Premier League or not,'

Vital Wolves Comment: If you are that interested the full time result was 3-0.

What the ****? You could've beaten them if you had a full team!

We would have lost whoever we played. I dare say the Spurs fans will be on here moaning any second..

As a United fan I'm not unbiased in this situation and I can understand your travelling fans not being happy. But what you did is absolutely no different to what EVERY team in the top four do when it comes to the champions league. With so much on the line, every club has the right to prioritise its games to benefit their own interests. If another club does the same against chelsea towards the end of the season, I wont be happy, as it'll make more difference then than now - but the managers only responsibility is towards his own club. If you beat burnley, and stay up the managers a hero.

tuscan, top post. Agree with all you say. I certainly do not understand the arguments from other teams supporters. For me this is more of a matter of disrespecting our own supporters.
