Despite the results over the Christmas period we have enjoyed our Christmas here at Vital Wolves and we hope you have done the same!
Normal duty will resume in the New Year, but we will endeavour do bring you some Wolves updates every other day while we continue to drink and eat way too much as we go into the New Year.
As expected we were not able to continue our recent good form with matches against Liverpool and Manchester City proving that little bit too much.
That said we gave Liverpool a good go at Anfield a few days ago and until the red card too Stephen Ward. We were still wondering if we could pull off an upset.
Unfortunately though despite the referee booking the wrong player initially, Liverpool made sure his error was corrected and Ward soon received his marching orders.
"I wasn`t bothered about what Liverpool`s players did, I just wonder if the fourth official whispered in the referee`s ear because he wasn`t convinced," said McCarthy to the Express & Star.
He added: The ref got the right player in the end but he got some flipping assistance. They were all in Dowd`s earhole and I`m not sure he knew who made the foul.'
He concluded: "I don`t know if Dowd told the referee who it was, but if you can get assistance from the fourth official then perhaps Ireland would be going to the World Cup."
Steven Gerrard and Yossi Benayoun got the goals in the 2-0 defeat.
After the game OldGold wrote on the forum: Poor yesterday weren't we. Must do better against City.
While mike1952 replied: Poor? Not in any shape or form! I have just watched the whole of the 90 mins on Liverpool TV. They put in a really good performance but once Ward was off it was always going to be very difficult.
Vital Wolves Comment: Post match reaction to the defeat to Manchester City will be online later today.
