Vital Wolves: Win over Tranmere - The Verdict

Wolves managed what Manchester United couldn't on Sunday, a win in the FA Cup Third Round.

While Manchester United lost at home to Division Two opposition, we travelled away to one.

With the game shown on the Football Associations website, someone must have thought this game had the potential for an upset, but thankfully for us it didn't, as Matt Jarvis found the winner with 10 minutes remaining.

'It is the third round the FA Cup - where people find that extra bit I don't know but I bet that is the best they have played in a long time.' McCarthy told the BBC.

He went on to add: 'We needed a win. I don't know what winning will do for confidence but I know what losing would have done for it - it would have had a real adverse effect.

'I thought first half we were evenly matched but second half we were the dominant force and for long periods we were camped in their half - deserved winners I think.'

Vital Wolves Comment: It may not have been pretty, but it doesn't need to be in the Cup, we just needed to get through and that's what we did.
