Wolves have not discussed the possibility of buying Michael Mancienne with Chelsea.

He would of course be the ideal signing, he can play any where across the defence and in midfield.

All Wolves fans would be delighted to see it happen, but McCarthy has played down the possibility.

"We have never discussed that. We took him on loan and whether I would like or him or not, it has never been discussed. I think it is wrong to have a quote from me saying 'I would like to sign him.` McCarthy told Express & Star.

Vital Wolves current front page poll asks if we need to strengthen our squad in January if we are to survive in the Premier League this season.

92% of voters believe we do, but Mick, so far doesn't agree as he stated: "In fact, there isn`t any transfer news. None at all."

Even the rumours appear to have dried up at the moment, with Neil Collins making his loan move to Preston permanent the only snippet of news doing the rounds.

Vital Wolves Comment: The likelihood of Chelsea even considering a permanent move a very slim. It was only a few months ago that we thought Chelsea might recall him following their transfer ban, so they are hardly about to sell him.

Latest transfer news is Wolves are having talks with Toulouse winger cum striker Fode Mansara. Mansara, 28yo who also plays for his national side Guinea, arrived at Molineux yesterday for talks with Mick McCarthy about a loan deal until the end of the season and which may possibly lead to a full transfer if successful.

Just heard a rumour that Kevin Kilblane is being linked with us as well. Dont know much about Mansara and wonder how he would cope and how long it will take him to settle in the Prem. Adam Johnson from M'boro is another being linked and one I would welcome. No doubt there will be more rumours during the next few weeks!

I guess the Chelsea mantra would be - he's not for sale!
