Mokoena staying at Portsmouth

Mick McCarthy has missed out on bringing Aaron Mokoena to Molineux for a second time.

The 29-year-old South African left Blackburn Rovers in the summer and McCarty attempted to sign him then before he agreed a 3 year deal at Fratton Park.

With all the financial problems at Portsmouth, Mokoena has been linked with a move away, with Wolves a possible destination.

But the player has ruled out a move.

"In this month`s transfer window period I`ve been approached by several clubs, but I`ve made it clear I`m not going anywhere." Aaron Mokoena told the Express & Star.

It appears despite not being paid on time, for a couple of months already this season. Playing is more important, especially in a World Cup year.

He added: "Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has advised players warming the benches to move to clubs where they`ll play regularly, to enhance their chances of being in the World Cup squad.

"I can`t risk my chances by moving where I might not be guaranteed playing regularly immediately."

Vital Wolves Comment: I know it has meant that we have missed out on the chance of bringing him to Molineux, but isn't it nice to hear a player not only wanting to play for his country, but also putting his career ahead of his bank balance?

Nice one Mokoena.
