Beckford for Vokes plus £300k?

Wolves have denied that they offered Sam Vokes plus £300,000 for Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.

Since knocking Manchester United out of the FA Cup 26-year-old Beckford has been catching the eye of a number of teams.

With his contract ticking away in the summer, League One Leeds United are looking to cash in now rather than risk him leaving on a free in the summer.

Some reports have said that Leeds will not let Beckford leave until they have a replacement lined up, which is where the rumour that we had offered cash and Vokes originated.

The club though have denied this link, but do remain interested in Beckford.

It is thought Leeds would accept an offer of around £1.5million but Newcastle United currently are favourites to grab his signature.

Vital Wolves Comment: We were linked with Beckford in the summer and we at Vital Wolves thought he`d be the ideal signing. Unfortunately it never happened though and it now looks like we may have missed our chance.

I honestly cannot see it happening, although I liked Vokes during his spell at Leeds, 1 goal in 8 games just isn't the replacement Leeds will be looking for, for a player who has hit 20 goals already this season.

i would be deeply worried if wolves would consider such a stupid transfer personnaly i dont think beckford is half the player of sam vokes and definatley has less potential given his age and tempramental nature sam vokes has proved to be a hard worker and is also very good in the air also he is only 19 far to young to be sold out
