Striker search confirmed

United would miss Rooney, Liverpool would miss Torres, Spurs would miss Defoe and Wolves would miss Doyle and Ebanks-Blake.

This quote from McCarthy all but guarantee that Wolves are hoping to sign a striker during this transfer window.

We have been linked with a move for Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford, but McCarthy wouldn't be drawn on the name of his target.

'Us and how many others have been linked with Beckford? Do you think his agent might be working overtime?' McCarthy told the waiting press yesterday.

While Mick tries to play the link down, he hasn't exactly come out and denied it has he? He also pretty much confirmed that Wolves are on the search for a striker, by adding: 'I would say if Wayne Rooney got injured at Manchester United or Liverpool lost Fernando Torres, or Tottenham lost Jermain Defoe, they would suffer.

'We would be the same here if we lost Kevin Doyle or Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.'

Vital Wolves Comment: With Newcastle the favourites to sign Beckford, who do you think McCarthy will target next if Beckford doesn't come to Molineux?
