Wolves Transfer Rumours

Time for plan B, as Wolves two targets stay with Leeds and Hull.

Stephen Hunt looks likely to now stay at Hull City, as Hull have rejected two bids from Wolves, the last one thought to be around 3.5million.

Another man who will not be on the move during the January transfer window is Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.

Newcastle United were the probably favourites to sign the forward who knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup, but once their fourth bid of around 2million was rejected, Beckford withdrew his transfer request.

Wolves may look to sign Beckford in the summer as he is then available on a Bosman.

So with Mick McCarthy's two first choice targets now unavailable, McCarthy will turn to plan B.

It is believed that Sunderland's Daryl Murphy will be the target now the Hunt trail has gone cold, while McCarthy could also be interested in Stoke's 31-year-old striker James Beattie.

James Beattie has reportedly been unhappy at Stoke since a falling out with his manager and has been linked with moves to Aston Villa, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

At 31-year-old and valued at 3million this isn't a typical Mick McCarthy target, but with Wolves currently having the worst goal threat in the division, McCarthy needs to move quick if he is to add to his squad before the window shuts.
